NextGEOSS in brief by 8 women - International Women's Day 2019

"Think Equal. Build Smart. Innovate for Change". NextGEOSS is developed by experts from 27 partners representing 14 European countries. Many of these experts are women with background from various fields such as ICT, biodiversity, meteorology, standards, data management, software development, astrophysics, and much more. 

In this webinar you will i) get a nice overview of NextGEOSS, the European data hub and platform, and ii) learn about the different types of contributions women offer to state-of-the-art technology for Earth observations. iii) showcase women's contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals using their competence in science and technology.

This will be our way to celebrate Women's Day and contribute to SDG 5 Gender Equality by promoting the empowerment of women.

What: In this webinar you will get a quick overview of the many components comprising the NextGEOSS data hub and platform. This entails the NextGEOSS techology components, the use cases from a selection of NextGEOSS pilots contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. You will be introduced to three services: Integrate your pilot, Showcase your application, and Link your data, together with a description of how users are onboarded to these services and how NextGEOSS build capacity. You will also learn about management of NexGEOSS as a H2020 project. All presentations are done by women.  

Why now: NextGEOSS celebrates the International Women's Day 2019 by letting some of the many women that contribute to the delevopment of the data hub and platform, present their work. Junior and senior women use their talents in technology and science contributing to solve societal challenges in many ways, NextGEOSS is currently one of the major contributions to GEO building European Earth monitoring and transforming the resulting data into information and knowledge.

Who is it for: Anyone with an interest in Earth Observation and/or information technology. Additionally, women will see the many different ways they can contribute to science and technology development and parents, fathers and mothers, who want to support their daughters in choosing science and technology careers will identify several profiles of expertise.
